Our first Brakes for Backpacks Community Event was one to remember! We couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off our first year. With the support of our customers and community, we were able to donate 121 BACKPACKS filled with school supplies to local students!

From handing our backpacks filled with school supplies to the coloring contest, giveaways, tacos, shop tours, and everything in between – it was awesome seeing so many families, friends, customers, and community members together at the shop.

Brakes for Backpacks started as a way for Skalicky’s Auto Repair to give back to the community who as supported us throughout the years. Seeing it come together for the first time made year one even more special.

Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, stopped by the event, or helped spread the word. We’re proud of what we were able to accomplish together and we’re excited to see where Brakes for Backpacks goes from here!

Brakes for Backpacks was created by Skalicky’s Auto Repair as a way to give back to local students during the back-to-school season.

From July 20 through August 19, 2026, every qualifying brake service completed at our shop helped provide a backpack filled with school supplies to a local student. Community members were also invited to donate backpacks and school supplies.

In its first year, Brakes for Backpacks helped provide 121 BACKPACKS to local students!
